About Coach

Sports have been a massive part of my life growing up. Competing and being a part of a team has led me to some of the best moments and taught me some great life lessons. I started playing basketball at a young age and continued to play through four years of high school and an additional four years through college. The principles and values taught through sports have made me a better athlete, person, and coach. The keys to success come from giving your best effort, finding joy in the little things, and having faith.

Turning Point

Playing basketball in college, I quickly learned the importance of preparation. An icon basketball coach, John Wooden, says, "Failing to prepare is preparing to fail." Practice and training have their role, but sleep, nutrition, and hydration must be prioritized to perform at your highest potential. This was hard for me to accept at first. As a young girl/woman, it can be so easy to let the world and unrealistic societal standards like diet culture and the "ideal" body image affect your mindset. My turning point was in my first conference home game during my first year. I had virtually nothing to eat all day and suited up to play later that evening. My body could not function! I was mentally checked out and struggled to find a way to lock back in. I was practically throwing the ball to the other team. Since that game, I have made it a priority to mentally and physically prepare for each game, practice, and workout. One of my professors told me, "Food is fuel, and as an athlete, you NEED to fuel your body." My old mindset had me fearful of eating x amount of calories, the number on the scale, and scared to walk into a public gym by myself. My new mindset allows my body to thrive by giving it what it needs for me to be the best version of myself.

Motivation & Passion

At FemFit, I aim to make the gym a fun and safe space for women to show up for themselves while building strength and confidence. I am passionate about learning and believe wholeheartedly that there is something to learn each day. My purpose for coaching is to bring out the best in the people around me. I want women to feel encouraged and motivated to get better each day we are given.
